Gilbert J. Arieta, also known affectionately as Gil and Chispo, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, in Cleveland, Ohio, at the age of 83.

Gilbert was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and was the beloved son of the late Jose Arieta and Elsa Belaval Arieta. He proudly served his country in the United States Army before beginning a long and dedicated career as a dental technician, through which he touched many lives with his professionalism and care.

A man of deep faith, Gilbert was an active and devoted Catholic. He faithfully served as the sacristan at St. Augustine Towers, where his quiet dedication and reverence were deeply appreciated by the community.

Gilbert will be remembered for his service to others, his strong faith, and the love he shared with those around him. He was also a devoted brother, a loving uncle, and a dear friend to many, whose presence will be deeply missed. He leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of all who knew him.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at St. Augustine Manor  located at 7801 Detroit Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44102.

Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
