It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Matthew "Matt" Michaels, Sr., age 58, who departed this life peacefully surrounded by family.

A devoted father, Matt is survived by his beloved children: Matthew (Heather), Mark, Chad (Elissa), Megan (the late Alex Dhillon), and Johnathan (Camryn). He was preceded in death by his cherished son, Kyle.

Matt's legacy continues through his many grandchildren: Kyle, Anna, Sophia, Matthew III, Dirk, Violet, Kash, Rosalie, Phoenix, Bear, Santino, Walker, Weston, Luka James Dhillon, and Lilliana DiLuzio—each of whom he adored and who brought immense joy to his life.

He was a loving brother to Shasta Doak and Billy Poppe, and was preceded in death by his brother,Kevin Poppe.

Matt had a deep love for music and was always happiest at a live concert or with a great song playing. A passionate fan of sports, especially Cleveland teams, he never missed a chance to cheer on the Browns, Guardians, or Cavaliers—win or lose. But more than anything, Matt loved being with his family. Whether it was a Sunday game, a backyard gathering, or a simple phone call, time with loved ones was what he treasured most.

He will be remembered for his deep love of family, his resilience in the face of loss, and the quiet strength he showed every day. His presence was a steady anchor for those around him, and his memory will be forever cherished.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 6, from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM, at St. Augustine Church, 2486 W. 14th Street, Cleveland, Ohio.

Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
